<h3>How Y'shtola topped the deck(s)</h3>
Final Fantasy's (FIN/FIC) popularity goes all the way down in EDHREC popularity; there are ten Final Fantasy set commanders in the top 100 list!

For Y'stola herself, let's recap the basics. Final Fantasy is one of the most beloved, and long-lived, video game series of all time, with plenty of natural (and actual) crossover into Magic. Not to mention that the game she's from, Final Fantasy XIV, is an incredibly popular MMORPG.

The <a href="https://edhrec.com/articles/scions-spellcraft-precon-guide-final-fantasy">Scions and Spellcraft precon</a> is still available for a decent price (less so if you're a shameless collector, like myself), and Y'shtola herself doesn't exactly leave you breaking the bank in order to sit her on her command zone throne. To her, life gain, drawing cards, and new decklists all go hand in hand.
Not to mention that new players are getting into Magic in greater droves than ever before, and linking <del>the best shard of all time</del> Esper to a powerful, passively-rewarding commander has been a shoo-in for Y'shtola's enduring popularity. After all, she hit EDHREC's #1 spot just a couple of days ago this week!
<h3>How we got to 50k decklists</h3>
Of course, I know what you're all thinking. We just did this all ourselves with our hacky, data-side wizardry! Well, in lieu of repurposing <a href="https://edhrec.com/faq">what the FAQ itself says</a>, you can read more in detail there about how our decklists are gathered from various MTG deck building sites like Archidekt and Moxfield.
And much more importantly, if it were simply just up to me, <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Oloro, Ageless Ascetic" href="#" target="_blank">Oloro, Ageless Ascetic</a> would forever be sitting the Iron Throne that is the EDHREC #1 most popular (and Esper) commander spot. Huff. A girl can dream.

Whew, that was a good amount of words. Not quite 50,000, but it sure felt like it. I'm sure a lot of internet commenters are cracking their knuckles and getting ready to solve for the next commander to rise to the top.
But who could it possibly be? Another Universes Beyond baddie? A stalwart newcomer? Or just <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="The Ur-Dragon" href="#" target="_blank">The Ur-Dragon</a> again (anyone but Edgar, please folks, let those vampires rest)? Y'shtola, Night's Blessed is the First Commander to Hit 50k Decks on EDHREC

On Monday, May 12th, Wizards of the Coast revealed all four of the Final Fantasy precon decklists for Commander. The four decks are fairly interesting, from the new cards to their reprints, all printed in an in-universe theme. But what cards are particularly powerful in these decks? What reprints make these decks worth getting? Read on, and we'll help with that.
<h2>Magic: The Gathering x Final Fantasy's New Commander Cards</h2>
To kick this off, there are a few things you'll need to know. First off, there are four distinct Commander precons in this release. These have an MSRP of $69.99. However, there is also a set of "Collector's Edition" precons, each of which has an MSRP of $149.99. These collector items are the same as the standard-issue precons, just with a fully foiled-out deck. They're also likely to be extremely sought-after and hard to find, and when they're bought out, resellers may sell them at inflated markups.
However, it's not our purview to discuss markups. You came here to read up on the precons themselves, and so that's what we will talk about from here on!
<h2>The Decks</h2>
The four Final Fantasy preconstructed decks each represent one of four games from the mainline 16-game series. Let's go over each!
<h3>Revival Trance</h3>
<a href="https://archidekt.com/decks/13106730/revival_trance_final_fantasy_commander">Revival Trance</a> is a white-black-red deck that represents FFVI. It runs a reanimation strategy seeking to fill your graveyard while reaping value from it. <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Terra, Herald of Hope" href="#" target="_blank">Terra, Herald of Hope</a> is the face commander of Revival Trance, while <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Celes, Rune Knight" href="#" target="_blank">Celes, Rune Knight</a> is its featured commander (or backup commander, though Wizards now uses this new nomenclature).

<h2>The Best Cards In the Decks</h2>
So, beyond what we've already mentioned, we're going to give players a bit of breathing room regarding newly printed cards from Final Fantasy. The new cards in this release will likely find their place in Commander. However, they're still super fresh, and players will very possibly want to figure out a means to give these cards a home in their decks.
On the flipside, very notably, there are a slew of high-end reprints in these decks, and that's what might be worth talking about at this time.

Overall, reprint playability appears to be pretty widespread among the different precons, but in terms of value, Limit Break has this in spades.
All in all, the decks each have something of value to them.
