On Monday, November 3rd, "An Encyclopedia of Magic" will release on <a href="https://secretlair.wizards.com/us">the Secret Lair webstore</a>. For those of you waylaid by Daylight Savings Time, that happens to be today. We previously covered this news <a href="https://edhrec.com/articles/wizards-gives-new-info-on-an-encyclopedia-of-magic-secret-lair">just a few short days ago</a>. However, since it's releasing today, it makes sense for us to reiterate (albeit without the alphabetical wordplay). So read on, and let's try to figure out if the $199.99 price tag is reasonable!
<h2>What We Know About This Secret Lair Drop</h2>
As relayed in our article from October 21st, "An Encyclopedia of Magic" releases today, November 3rd, for $199.99. It contains 26 unique cards with a ton of equally unique Secret Lair-worthy styles. Each of these cards is alphabetically organized. What that means is a card like <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Demonic Consultation" href="#" target="_blank">Demonic Consultation</a> is representative of the letter "D", or <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Wasteland" href="#" target="_blank">Wasteland</a> represents "W". Ideally, you get the picture based on those two examples alone.

Additionally, a few of these cards (potentially only one per drop) utilize the Halo Foil treatment. This treatment was used a lot in March of the Machine's bonus sheet slot for its legendary creature cards. It's making its return here!
<h2>What We Don't Know Yet</h2>
Currently, at the time of writing, only around six of the cards in "An Encyclopedia of Magic" are actually known to the public. In addition to Demonic Consultation and Wasteland, Wizards has informed players that <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Llanowar Elves" href="#" target="_blank">Llanowar Elves</a>, <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Phyrexian Altar" href="#" target="_blank">Phyrexian Altar</a>, and <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Urza&#039;s Saga" href="#" target="_blank">Urza&#039;s Saga</a> all feature in the Secret Lair drop. Another land is included, though the art alone does not confirm which card it is. As the art is all we really have to go by at this moment, we don't know for sure. However, it is likely either <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="City of Brass" href="#" target="_blank">City of Brass</a> or <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Vesuva" href="#" target="_blank">Vesuva</a>, with signs pointing more towards the former.
That leaves us with 20 more cards that currently remain unknown. What could they be? Patience, and/or perhaps $200, will provide the public with answers.
<h2>Conclusion</h2>
If you're reading this just as it comes out (at 5 AM Pacific Time, or 8 AM Eastern Time), you still have to wait about four hours before "An Encyclopedia of Magic" is put into <a href="https://secretlair.wizards.com/us">the Secret Lair webstore</a>. However, it's a good idea to start queueing up an hour prior to that, as the webstore will be open at that time. This drop will be extremely limited, according to Wizards of the Coast.

Mark your calendars and set your alarms, Magic connoisseurs! The 2025 Festival in a Box product, coinciding with MagicCon Atlanta, launches at noon Eastern Time on Monday, August 18th. This Magic product has a very high chance of selling out extremely fast, so if you're planning to grab it, you've got to prepare! But what's inside the box, and why is it so popular? Read on, and find out more!
<h2>Festival in a Box Atlanta 2025 Contents</h2>
For starters, please refer to our previous content covering the announcement of this product <a href="https://edhrec.com/articles/festival-in-a-box-atlanta-announced-for-2025">by clicking here</a>. But for those of you who simply want to know more right away without a new link, here is the general breakdown of the product's contents:

Notably, there is a copy of <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Sliver Legion" href="#" target="_blank">Sliver Legion</a> in the Secret Lair drop, and a copy of <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="The Ur-Dragon" href="#" target="_blank">The Ur-Dragon</a> is among the promos in the box. Those cards are quite valuable on the secondary market and are a big selling point for the Festival in a Box this time around.
<h2>Where to Purchase</h2>
You can find this Festival in a Box product at MagicCon Atlanta or by visiting <a href="https://secretlair.wizards.com/us/#fiab_atlanta_2025">the Secret Lair website</a>. The queue on the website is almost guaranteed to fill up super-quickly for this item in particular, so you'll want to get on as soon as you can, ahead of noon. If you're planning on buying this item, keep your mouse hand sharp, and click in at noon, or at least as close to noon as humanly possible. Also, expect a long wait and anticipate that you may not be able to get the box in time before they're all snagged. This is a normal part of the Secret Lair experience nowadays.
One other thing to note is that there is no confirmed price on the Festival in a Box at the time of writing. It is likely priced at $250 based on past precedent. That said, it has cost as low as $200 before, and it's possible that it could cost more than $250 this time around, so bear that in mind!

Festival in a Box Atlanta 2025 Launching At Noon EST

On Monday, May 12th, at approximately 9 AM Pacific (Noon Eastern), Wizards of the Coast will drop The Ultimate Pencil Superdrop for Secret Lair. We broke down <a href="https://edhrec.com/articles/secret-lair-reveals-the-ultimate-pencil-superdrop">the contents of this drop</a> for you back in April, but we felt it was keen to remind you on that day. Since that day is today, let's dive into it!
As a quick reminder, Secret Lair drops now operate on a limited print run system. This means they're no longer printed to demand. Therefore, if you want any particular drop, you should plan to get it soon.
But there's another important thing to keep in mind. As is the case for each superdrop, the cards in these drops come in two or three different styles. Why does this matter? Simply put, it's a matter of price. If you misclick on something, you could be paying between $10 and $60 more. For some reason, the raised foil versions of Everything Is On Fire and VroooOOOMMMMMM! are both $99.99. To this end, we noted back in April that it's a lot of money, but not enough to solely cover free shipping. Ideally, the bonus card in each of those drops would make up the financial slack. However, that's never a sure bet at this time of the drop's release cycle. You'll have to wait to learn more about the bonus cards in question.

<h2>Secret Lair Abridged Financial Breakdown</h2>
Speaking of prices, nonfoil copies of each of these drops are $29.99, while rainbow foil drops are $39.99. Mechanically speaking, only a handful of these drops come close to hitting either of those marks. Most notably, the drop titled Secret Lair x KEXP: You Are Not Alone stands out as a great value acquisition. <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Font of Mythos|SLD|2075" href="#" target="_blank">Font of Mythos</a> and <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Concordant Crossroads|SLD|2073" href="#" target="_blank">Concordant Crossroads</a> are still fairly expensive cards at around $17 apiece. A foil copy of Font of Mythos almost costs the same as a rainbow foil copy of that drop.
Additionally, Featuring: Jay Howell would be worth buying in rainbow foil for the copy of <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Treasonous Ogre|SLD|2007" href="#" target="_blank">Treasonous Ogre</a> alone. Currently, that card stands at a whopping $56.50 in its sole foil iteration from Conspiracy.
But that seems to be where the value drops off for these drops, if you'll excuse the wordplay. Are they still worth it? Yes, if you value the art, but not if you'd prefer one specific card or printing. Raised foils notwithstanding, a lot of these cards will likely be affordable in the future as singles.
<h2>Penciling It In</h2>
At the time of writing, you have about two hours to get your plans in for this drop. Generally speaking, queues fill up quickly on the day of a drop, so be prepared to potentially wait a bit.
