<p class="font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal leading-[1.7]">However, it's worth noting that the report came in preliminary form; full Q1 financials won't land until May 20, as a cyberattack on March 28 forced Hasbro to delay its standard reporting timeline. The breach didn't affect Q1 results, and <em>Magic</em> shipments were never disrupted, but it did change some of the details that can be shared on the normal timeline.</p>
<p class="font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal leading-[1.7]">With that out of the way, let's dig into the report.</p>

The reason these figures are reported as ranges rather than exact numbers is precisely because this is a preliminary release — the cyberattack disrupted Hasbro's internal systems enough that the company cannot yet certify precise figures, hence the wider reporting window ahead of the May 20 full release.</p>

The fact that Hasbro not only hit that bar but blew past its total revenue estimate by seven-plus percent — in what analysts repeatedly described as a seasonally weak quarter for toys — tells you everything you need to know about what's carrying this company.</p>

It's the Q2 flagship set, it's shipping on schedule, and it lands in the wake of the fastest-selling in-house set ever. Expectations are high. Whether or not it clears the bar <em>Lorwyn Eclipsed</em> set will say a lot about whether 2026 can sustain what 2025 built.</p>

What Hasbro's Q1 2026 Report Means for Magic

<p>Hold onto your hats, everyone! Hasbro's Q3 Earnings Report is now available to the public. And apparently, <em>Magic: The Gathering</em> is the dominant force in their overall sales. Yes, you read that correctly: Wizards of the Coast is driving the Hasbro bus, and <em>Magic</em> appears to be holding Wizards by the hair, <em>Ratatouille</em>-style.</p>
<h2>Hasbro Earnings Report</h2>
<p>According to <a href="https://investor.hasbro.com/static-files/5836500f-a833-4850-aab5-78abca721257">the Q3 earnings report</a>, as of the end of the third quarter, <em>Edge of Eternities</em> and <em>Marvel's Spider-Man</em> (yes, even <em>Marvel's Spider-Man</em>) have assisted in driving <em>Magic</em>'s product sales up by 55%. Hasbro CEO Chris Cocks is <a href="https://newsroom.hasbro.com/news-releases/news-release-details/hasbro-reports-third-quarter-2025-financial-results">reported as saying</a>:</p>
<blockquote><p>“Wizards of the Coast led the way as <em>Magic: The Gathering</em> continues to break records. Consumer Products POS and market share accelerated ahead of the holiday, and our high-margin licensing business is unlocking new opportunities. With major announcements coming at The Game Awards in December, we’re poised to enter 2026 with momentum.”</p></blockquote>
<p><em>Secret Lair</em> also seems to have lent itself well to the rising revenue that <em>Magic</em> is earning for Wizards of the Coast and Hasbro.</p>
<p>Cocks' last sentence in our above quote has us wondering, however. The Game Awards is typically reserved to showcase video game announcements and awards. Might there be a push for Hasbro to revisit the possibility of a <em>Magic</em> video game (other than <em>Arena</em>)? Will we see <em>Magic: Legends</em> resurface in our lifetime? These are good questions to remember for December!</p>
<h2>It's Not All Roses, Sadly</h2>
<p>Unfortunately, there is a bit of troublesome news with this Hasbro earnings report. According to the report, Hasbro's overall profits are down, despite their continued windfall with <em>Magic: The Gathering</em>. But despite that information, a few other Hasbro properties, such as Peppa Pig, Beyblade, and GI Joe, continue to help <em>Magic</em> mitigate the company's profit issues.</p>
<p>Nevertheless, it's unfathomably interesting to see that <em>Magic</em> is the biggest reason that Hasbro is seemingly doing well right now. <em>Magic: The Gathering</em> is a <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Juggernaut" href="#" target="_blank">Juggernaut</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>, and from the looks of it, is here to stay for the foreseeable future.</p>

<p>These and the Ur-Dragon sleeves made their official debut at MagicCon Atlanta, where patrons were able to purchase the newly revealed sleeves at the Dragon Shield booth. Others will have to wait until the sleeves hit the market, which is anticipated to happen later this year.</p>
<h2>The Guildpact Series</h2>
<p>Now for the product that got this Commander player the most excited. The Guildpact Series is coming next spring, and features sleeves showcasing the Guild symbols of each of the Ravnica guilds, including the Orzhov Syndicate, the Izzet League, and House Dimir.</p>
<p>These sleeves were not available at the convention, but we did get a sneak peek at them at the announcement event, which you can see in the pictures below.</p>

Dragon Shield Announces New Licensing Agreement With Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast

<p>On Tuesday, September 16th, Wizards of the Coast announced their next fundraising collaboration with <a href="https://www.extra-life.org/Wizards">Extra Life</a>. Extra Life is a program in conjunction with Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, an organization that helps treat thousands of children annually. Wizards of the Coast is always proud to collaborate with Extra Life to this end. And this year, they're bringing in another Hasbro property to help with this year's fundraising <em>Secret Lair</em> drop: Play-Doh!</p>
<h2><em>Secret Lair x Play-Doh: Squishful Thinking</em></h2>
<p><em>Squishful Thinking</em> is a new <em>Secret Lair</em> release to coincide with and benefit Extra Life. The drop contains four cards, each reprinted in true <em>SLD</em> style with new, innovative artwork. The artwork in question is hand-sculpted from real Play-Doh and photographed to accentuate the sculptures. See for yourself with the renders below!</p>

<p><em>Secret Lair x Play-Doh: Squishful Thinking</em> releases on September 29th and will be available online through November 9th. Furthermore, the drop is available at MagicCon Atlanta's merch booths from September 26th through September 28th in limited quantities. The drop is billed to be printed to demand. The nonfoil drop will sell for $39.99, while the foil drop will sell for $49.99. Half of the proceeds from these sales benefit Extra Life.</p>
<h2>Other Interesting Extra Life Information</h2>
<p>In addition to a new <em>Secret Lair</em>, there are more Extra Life goodies on the way as well! For one, you can get card cosmetics for the above drop's contents on Magic Arena. Furthermore, you can get a special sleeve with the leonin Planeswalker Ajani on Arena (as shown at the top of this article) as well. All proceeds from these sales (minus any transaction fees) will go towards Extra Life, specifically to benefit Seattle Children's Hospital. <em>Squishful Thinking</em>'s card styles will cost players 3,000 Gems, while the sleeve style will cost 600 Gems to acquire.</p>
<p>Furthermore, UltraPro will soon release their collaborative T-shirts and playmats, both bearing the same art of Ajani that you can see at the top of this article. The shirts cost $29.99, while the playmats cost $32.99. They aren't up on the site at the time of writing, but you can visit <a href="https://ultrapro.com/?srsltid=AfmBOopPbsVAkzKFjDsbhwY5juguHlt0AuwOyR3JgET39su6AAzEhGbS">their website here</a> to look for yourself!</p>

<h2>What Is the International Day of Play?</h2>
<p>On June 11, 2025, EDHREC is happy to celebrate International Day of Play (IDOP)!</p>
<p>Marking the importance of play in children's lives is the primary goal of IDOP. Even for adults, making some time to move away from screens into the open-world RPG that is life is a great way to celebrate the holiday through in-person play.</p>
<p>Various organizations across the globe are celebrating IDOP. Even the United Nations is taking part in this holiday!</p>
<p>According to <a href="https://www.un.org/en/delegate/international-day-play-2025" target="_blank" rel="noopener">their press release on the subject</a>, 2025 marks the second year of the celebration of a person's right to engage in play. Their release goes on to say:</p>
<blockquote><p>Building on the success of the inaugural International Day of Play in 2024 and the adoption of the General Assembly resolution recognizing every child’s right to play, we are pleased [...] to participate in the 2025 celebration of the International Day of Play (IDOP) [...] This year’s celebration will move from conversation to commitment. We hope to see broad and meaningful participation from Member States to help advance the right to play in practical and visible ways.</p></blockquote>
<p>International Day of Play is a worldwide holiday that emphasizes a child's right to play.</p>
<p>However, everyone needs some time for their own leisure and play now and again.</p>
<h3>What Are Some Ways I Can Participate?</h3>
<p><a href="https://newsroom.hasbro.com/news-releases/news-release-details/hasbro-celebrates-international-day-play-global-initiatives" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Hasbro has announced</a> family-friendly, in-person Dungeons &amp; Dragons events at over 300 local gaming stores (LGS) nationwide.</p>
<p>Plus, with <em>Magic: The Gathering's</em> tentpole<em> Final Fantasy</em> set releasing on June 13th, many gamers are looking forward to a jam-packed weekend of play.</p>

<p>In addition, Hasbro is teaming up with the Boys &amp; Girls Clubs of America to spearhead multiple <em>Dungeons &amp; Dragons</em> campaigns at after-school programs. According to Hasbro's release:</p>

EDHREC Celebrates International Day of Play 2025

<p>On Thursday, April 24th, Hasbro announced that it renewed its longstanding licenses with The Walt Disney Company for Disney's Marvel and <em>Star Wars</em> properties. The license extension spans multiple years and will allow Hasbro to continue producing toys, games, and collectibles related to these properties. How will this affect <em>Magic: The Gathering</em>? Read on, and we will explain how this could affect <em>Universes Beyond</em>.</p>
<h2>Hasbro's Dealings With Disney</h2>
<p>According to the press release made on April 24th, Hasbro has historically produced many kinds of toys and games for the <em>Star Wars</em> and Marvel brands. They have made Lightsabers and a plethora of <em>Star Wars</em> action figures, while on the Marvel end of things, they've produced <em>Marvel Legends</em>, preschooler toys based on <em>Spidey and his Amazing Friends</em>, and, of course, <em>Universes Beyond</em>. Under this new extension, Hasbro will continue to be able to produce these toys and games for years to come.</p>

<h2>Statements From Hasbro and Disney Executives</h2>
<p>The <a href="https://newsroom.hasbro.com/news-releases/news-release-details/hasbro-extends-long-running-strategic-relationship-disney">press release</a> continues with some quotes from execs at Hasbro and Disney Consumer Products:</p>
<blockquote><p>"It’s an honor to be able to deepen our relationship with Disney Consumer Products to create even more magical play experiences for consumers across the globe," said <strong>Tim Kilpin</strong>, Hasbro's President, Toys, Board Games, Licensing and Entertainment. “<em>Star Wars</em> and Marvel provide an extensive array of captivating content that gives us an unlimited trove of fresh ideas to create from. Our collaboration spans more than half a century, and we look forward to strengthening our relationship by bringing consumers everywhere brand-new play experiences tied to the exciting universes and characters of <em>Star Wars </em>and Marvel.”</p>
<p>"We look forward to continuing to collaborate with Hasbro to evolve our expansive portfolio of <em>Star Wars</em> and Marvel toys that bring these iconic adventures into daily life,” said <strong>Paul Gitter</strong>, Executive Vice President of Global Brand Commercialization at Disney Consumer Products. "From must-have collectibles to Lightsaber toys, we aim to push the boundaries of creativity to deliver innovative products and engaging play experiences that bring our fans closer to their favorite stories and characters.”</p></blockquote>
<h2>Hold Your Horses, <em>Star Wars</em> Fans!</h2>
<p>This licensing extension looks extremely promising for <em>Universes Beyond</em> fans, especially with <em>Edge of Eternities</em> looming on the horizon. However, it is extremely unclear whether <em>Star Wars</em> will receive any <em>Universes Beyond</em> treatments. Yes, <em>Edge of Eternities</em> is a space opera setting, just like <em>Star Wars</em>. However, this extension is fresh. We also know Wizards of the Coast works approximately 2.5 years in advance, sometimes longer, on <em>Magic</em> sets. As such, getting a <em>Universes Beyond</em> license is a tricky prospect. Furthermore, with the <em>Star Wars Unlimited</em> card game gaining traction and popularity, <em>Magic</em> may not get a collaboration with Lucasfilm Ltd., even if this license allows Hasbro to produce <em>Star Wars</em> toys.</p>
<p>Nonetheless, Marvel's continued collaboration with <em>Magic</em> is full steam ahead. As such, we are excited for the upcoming <em>Spider-Man</em> set and all that will entail!</p>
